Petrol prices have climbed to their highest level since the outbreak of the Iran-US war, with fuel monitoring site Gaspy showing the average price of 91 unleaded now sitting at three dollars 50 point six.
The increase comes after a sustained stretch in which the global oil price benchmark, Brent Crude, has traded above US 100 dollars a barrel.
Finance Minister Nicola Willis told Heather du Plessis-Allan on Newstalk ZB that she has not received advice on exactly how high prices might still go. However, she said she has been told that additional oil released by the International Energy Agency should help stop prices from spiralling further from here.
